The parent company behind alcohol brands including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Bundaberg Rum and Baileys, has kicked off a global media review.
A Diageo spokesperson told Mumbrella the time was right to examine its existing arrangements.
“It is industry best practice to review a major media account like this every few years. We have decided that the time is right to review our media agencies globally to ensure that we continue to be at the forefront of media planning and data driven marketing plans,” a spokesperson said.
Recently, Diageo brand Johnnie Walker handed its global creative account back to Anamoly, however locally it continues to work with Leo Burnett Sydney.
Diageo Australia was contacted for comment about what the global review means for its local media agency arrangements.
Diageo’s local media agency of record is Publics Media’s Spark Foundry.
Diageo’s marketing and innovation director in Australia, Adam Ballesty stepped down last year, before popping up at Foxtel four months later to lead the subscription TV service’s sports marketing efforts. Ballesty left Foxtel after six months.
