We pit Pixel 4's face unlock against the iPhone 11's Face ID to find the winner

Apple got a lot right with the iPhone 11 (guide), iPhone 11 Pro (guide) and iPhone 11 Pro Max (guide) and they outshine their outdated designs and network limitations. But we now know Apple working to fix both of them.

2020 Apple iPhone 12 concept design, new iPhone

In a series of tweets, Apple insider and popular render artist Ben Geskin has revealed Apple’s 2020 iPhone (understood to be called the iPhone 12) will make significant changes to the front of the phone and step up to 5G connectivity with new antenna technology

This makes a lot of sense. Apple’s superb Face ID technology previously justified the iPhone range’s large notch, but it has also made the phones look dated compared to rivals. While it would seem extreme for Apple to fit everything into the in the top bezel (though I hold out hope it will be), a drastic reduction to the notch would still be very welcome indeed. Even if Samsung is planning something far
The Connectivity
While Apple made a bold move in switching the iPhone 11 range to WiFi 6, it was more conservative not offering a 5G model to compete with rivals. That said, with the entire range already hotly tipped to upgrade in 2020, integrating larger, next-gen antennas makes perfect sense.
One warning I will give at this stage, is Geskin doesn’t always get it right. He is acclaimed for being the first to reveal the original iPhone X design almost 9 months ahead of its release, but he has missed the mark on a few occasions since then. That said, the logic behind his latest leaks does make perfect sense.
Forget Apple's iPhone 11, This Is The Smartphone To Buy
Moreover, these improvements are far from the only positives the 2020 iPhone will bring to the table. The return of Touch ID will turn heads, while acclaimed analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has reiterated Apple’s decision to introduce new screen sizes and 5G for every model. The iPad Pro’s stunning 120Hz ProMotion displays are coming as well along with long-range 3D cameras and the long-awaited switch to USB-C
So yes, the iPhone 11 series is excellent but, for those still on the fence, the real revolution arrives in 2020.
