Until recently, it was only available on computers. Now, a stable version is also available for Android smartphones .
The Tor team have just released the first official version of the Tor browser for Android . The first alpha version of Tor was released in September 2018. As expected, there were a lot of bugs and stability issues. But this time it is a true stable version.
If Tor Browser is available on Android , it is not the same under iOS, the fault of restrictions imposed by Apple.
The Tor team says on its blog: "Although we can not offer an official Tor browser on iOS because of Apple's restrictions, the only app we recommend is Onion Browser, developed by Mike Tigas with help of the Guardian project ".
The Tor Browser presents itself as an alternative to the VPN in order to evade surveillance. It also suffers from a sulphurous reputation because it also serves as a gateway to darknet and the illegal activities that are often associated (sale of weapons, drugs, etc.).
