On Thursday 14 November 2019, President of the Republic Qais Said received at the Carthage Palace a civil society delegation on the recent moves in Gafsa regarding the resumption of phosphate production and the necessity of railway reform.
The President stressed that the issue is not regional and it is necessary to adopt a national approach to address it and find appropriate solutions.
He also stressed the importance of developing underdeveloped legislation and holding the responsibility of the various actors involved, as well as the use of expertise, whether young people or competencies transferred in honor of the profession, which is willing to volunteer to put its expertise for the benefit of the public.
Zakia al-Atrash said on behalf of the group that the meeting with the President of the Republic was an opportunity to address the economic and social problems and the proposed solutions, stressing the need to return phosphate production due to the national importance of the sector and the resumption of railway work.
