The number of private institutions that Bribery asked for when dealing with public administrations increased in 2019 by 28.8 percent

The number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have been asked for unofficial amounts (bribes) in at least one transaction with public administrations increased in 2019 to 28.8 percent from 20.9 percent in 2018, according to a study on the SME assessment of public administrations.
These administrative transactions, according to the study, the results of which were presented at a press conference organized Thursday in the capital, related to participation in public transactions (14.9 percent) and control and inspection (12.1 percent) and during the import and export operations (21.3 percent) and access to public services (19.4 percent).
The study, conducted by the Center for Young Managers and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in collaboration with the One to One Research and Survey Bureau, showed that 71 percent of companies see public administration as a major, large or medium barrier to their development.
During the period from 17 October 2019 to 06 November 2019, the authors of the study posed questions by telephone to 500 managers and owners of SMEs in 24 states, in relation to public administration based on the experiences of their companies.
The respondents considered the digitization of public administrations, improving the quality of services and further clarifying the procedures as the most important priority interventions to improve the relationship of institutions with the administration and their proposals included facilitating access to information and knowledge of administrative staff for various information and attendance and speed of interaction.
